Jolly Mill

Jolly Mill, located in Berwick Township, Newton County, Missouri, is a historic site built in 1848 as a whiskey distillery. Named after the local Jolly family, it also functioned as a grist mill until 1975. The mill played a significant role in the growth of the town of Jollification in the 1850s, which was known for the jovial nature of its residents. Although the town was burned during the Civil War and later bypassed by the railroad, the mill survived and was restored by The Friends of Jolly Mill in 1983. Today, it is a popular park featuring restored buildings that recreate the town's historical ambiance and is a prime trout-fishing destination, offering stocked streams for anglers.
