Lansing Fisheries Building

The Lansing Fisheries Building, also known as the Lansing Fish Hatchery, is a historic site in Lansing, Iowa, recognized for its significant role in fish rescue and management along the Mississippi River. Built in 1915, it served as a headquarters for rescuing fish trapped in backwaters and as a hatchery. The facility became a key location for fish management in eastern Iowa during the 1930s and continued to operate as a hatchery until the late 1970s. Today, it is leased by Luther College and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991, making it a notable destination for tourists and researchers interested in conservation history.
