Soldiers and Sailors Monument

The Soldiers and Sailors Monument on Monument Circle was constructed between 1888 and 1902 and was dedicated in 1902. It stands 284 feet 6 inches tall, making it a dominant feature of downtown Indianapolis. The monument was built as a memorial to Indiana’s veterans and includes sculptural reliefs and inscriptions at its base. An observation deck near the top is accessible to visitors.
