Casa del Rey Hotel

The Casa del Rey Hotel, built in 1911 in Santa Cruz, California, was a grand resort featuring Spanish Colonial Revival architecture, gardens, and a unique pedestrian bridge to the beach. Originally a luxurious hotel, it served as a Naval Convalescent Hospital during World War II and later transitioned to senior housing. The hotel was a key part of the Santa Cruz Boardwalk development, which included attractions like Neptune's Casino and the Plunge Natatorium. Despite its historical significance, the hotel was severely damaged in the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake and was ultimately demolished, leaving behind a parking lot near the vibrant Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk amusement park.
