Hueco Tanks rock art and bouldering

Hueco Tanks State Historic Site contains one of the densest concentrations of Native American pictographs in North America, with panels that are fragile and in many cases only viewable on guided tours or with special permits. The site is also internationally known among climbers for world-class low-height bouldering on unique hydrocarbon-bearing rock formations. Texas Parks and Wildlife and site managers limit access to sensitive pictograph areas to protect archaeological resources, making some panels hard to find without advance planning. Recreational access is managed by the park and guided-visit schedules should be consulted before visiting.
