Union Co-operative Store Bakery

The Union Co-operative Store Bakery, located at 46 1/2 Granite Street in Barre, Vermont, is a historic building that reflects the community's rich cultural heritage. Built in 1913, it served as a bakery catering to the city's Italian immigrant population, providing traditional baked goods. The building features a vernacular brick design with a gabled roof and has historical significance as part of the Socialist Labor Party Hall. Although it faced challenges, including flooding in 1927, it played a vital role in training local bakers. Today, it stands as a testament to Barre's history, though it has been largely unused since the 1940s.
