Capital One Arena - professional sports home games

Capital One Arena, located in downtown Washington, hosts the Washington Capitals (NHL) and Washington Wizards (NBA) as their primary home venue. The arena opened in 1997 (originally as the MCI Center) and regularly stages the teams' competitive regular-season and playoff games. It also serves as a site for other competitive events such as college basketball tournament rounds and national-level sporting events.
