John Patton Log Cabin

The John Patton Log Cabin, built in 1829 in Lexington, Illinois, is a historic log home that represents early settler life and interactions with Native Americans. Constructed with the help of the local Kickapoo tribe, it served as one of McLean County's first polling places after its incorporation in 1831. Now a museum, the cabin is the only surviving early government building in the county and was preserved through community efforts in 1969. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in local history.
