Eastern Market historic market building

Eastern Market on Capitol Hill is a 19th-century public market whose primary market house dates to 1873 and serves as a long-running neighborhood food and arts market. The market building was heavily damaged by fire in 2007 and subsequently restored and reopened in 2009, with preservation of its historic architectural features. Eastern Market is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and remains an active example of historic market architecture in Washington.
