Florida Theatre (1927 movie palace)

The Florida Theatre opened in 1927 as a downtown movie palace and vaudeville house and retains an atmospheric-style interior with ornate plasterwork and a starry-sky ceiling. After periods of decline it was restored and reopened as a performing arts venue hosting concerts, films, and community events. The building is a well-known example of early 20th-century theater architecture in Jacksonville.
