Strandbjerg

Strandbjerg, also known as Villa Standbjerg, is a historic mansion located in Rungsted, Hørsholm Municipality, along the picturesque Øresund coast north of Copenhagen, Denmark. Originally built in the 19th century, it has a rich history, including being a potential inspiration for a fictional country house in a play by Jens Christian Hostrup. The mansion underwent significant renovations in the early 20th century under architect Bernhard Ingemann. Notably, during World War II, it was confiscated by the Gestapo and used as a prison. After the war, it served as an asylum until 1990 and has since been converted into apartments, with the surrounding park developed into additional residential buildings. The architecture features a striking facade with a three-bay median risalit and elegant detailing, making it an interesting site for both tourists and researchers.
