Declaration signing date misconception at Independence Hall

Many people believe the Declaration of Independence was signed at Independence Hall on July 4, 1776. Historians note that while Congress approved the Declaration on July 4, most delegates signed the document on August 2, 1776, and additional signatures were added later. Independence Hall is the historic site associated with these events and is managed as part of Independence National Historical Park.
