Braehead (Fredericksburg, Virginia)

Braehead is a historic house in Fredericksburg, Virginia, built between 1858 and 1859. Originally named 'Greenview', it was home to John Howison, whose family has deep roots in the area, including connections to Civil War figures. The house is notable for its architectural design and historical significance, having served as General Robert E. Lee's headquarters during the Battle of Fredericksburg. Visitors can explore its unique features, including a two-story brick structure and historical sites like an icehouse and chimney ruins. Braehead was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2000 and is located within the Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park.
