Central Park (Pittsburgh)

Central Park, a historic baseball venue in Pittsburgh's Hill District, operated from 1921 to 1925 and was notable for being the first black-owned baseball park in the city. It served as the home field for the Pittsburgh Keystones of the Negro National League. Designed by African-American architect Louis Arnett Stuart Bellinger, the park was commissioned by Keystones' owner Alexander M. Williams. After the team disbanded, the park changed ownership and was eventually transformed into a summer dancing pavilion. Today, the site is a public park, though it was denied historical recognition in 2012 due to its perceived local significance.
