Honolulu Courthouse

The Honolulu Courthouse, a historic two-story building in Downtown Honolulu, served as the meeting place for the Hawaiian Kingdom's Legislature and Supreme Court from 1852 to 1874. Notable events included the elections of Kings William Lunalilo and David Kalākaua. The courthouse was recognized for its modern amenities, including possibly the first flush toilets in Hawaii. After a riot in 1874, the building was sold and used for office space until its demolition in 1968. Its construction faced challenges, including labor issues and cost overruns, but it symbolized a significant era in Hawaii's judicial and legislative history.
