Bank of New South Wales building, Melbourne

The Bank of New South Wales building, designed by architect Joseph Reed and completed in 1857, is a notable example of Renaissance Revival architecture in Melbourne. Located at 368–374 Collins St, its intricate façade features dual levels with Ionic and Corinthian columns, adorned with ornate sculptures by Charles Summers. Although the building faced structural issues leading to its demolition in 1932, its historic façade was preserved and relocated to the University of Melbourne, where it now forms part of the Melbourne School of Design. This architectural gem reflects the city's rich banking history and the influence of Italian Renaissance design.
