Paul Revere House cellar and excavated privy finds

The Paul Revere House, a preserved 17th/18th-century building in the North End, contains an excavated cellar and privy that yielded archaeological artifacts from Revere's period; many of these finds are displayed in the museum to illustrate everyday domestic life. Archaeological work on the site uncovered pottery, glass, and other household items that were typical trash in historic urban privies and cellars. Those below-grade domestic features are not visible from the street and are presented to visitors inside the museum.
