The Residency, Penang

The Residency, known as Seri Mutiara, is the official residence of the Governor of Penang, located in downtown George Town. Built in 1890 by British engineer Maurice Cameron, it originally served as the residence for the British governor before becoming the home of Penang's head of state after Malaysia's independence in 1957. The mansion features a blend of architectural styles, including a tetrastyle portico and a concealed roof, set within an expansive garden. While it was once open to visitors, access has since been restricted, making it a notable yet private landmark in Penang's rich history.
