Y-Block

The Y-Block was a notable Brutalist building in Oslo, Norway, designed by Erling Viksjø and completed in 1970. It was part of the Government Quarter and housed two unique murals by the famous artist Pablo Picasso, making it one of the few locations worldwide to feature his work. The building suffered damage during the 2011 Norway attacks and was ultimately demolished in 2020 after extensive public debate, with plans to integrate Picasso's murals into a new structure. This site reflects a significant chapter in Oslo's architectural and cultural history.
