Manor Povazske Podhradie

Manor Povazske Podhradie, also known as Szapáry Castle, is a historic manor house located in Považská Bystrica, Slovakia. Built in 1676 by Hungarian nobleman Péter Szapáry, the manor once featured a chapel and a school that served the local community. Today, the manor is in a state of disrepair, but it is surrounded by a cemetery containing gravestones of the Balassa noble family and a garden with diverse plants from around the world. The manor's history is marked by turmoil, including a 1918 incident where locals, fueled by resentment towards feudal oppression, looted and vandalized the property.
