Jaipur House

Jaipur House, located in New Delhi, India, was originally the residence of the Maharaja of Jaipur, commissioned in 1936 and completed in 1938. Designed by architects Arthur and Francis Blomfield, it features a unique butterfly-plan layout with twin wings and a central domed pavilion, adorned with Rajput columns and Mughal motifs. After India's independence, it was transformed into the National Gallery of Modern Art in 1954, becoming the country's leading institution for modern and contemporary art. The building's striking architecture, characterized by red and buff Dholpur sandstone, offers a glimpse into India's royal heritage while serving as a vibrant cultural hub.
