Canada Centre Building

The Canada Centre Building is a striking 12-storey postmodern federal office building located in Scarborough, Toronto, at 200 Town Centre Court. Opened in 1985, it serves as a hub for various government services, including Service Canada and Passport Canada, catering to the needs of Scarborough and Central Ontario. Notably, the building features innovative energy-conservation systems, including one of the first full-scale applications of aquifer thermal energy storage (ATES). Designed by Moriyama and Teshima, the building's unique architecture complements the surrounding civic structures and includes a pedestrian walkway linking Scarborough Centre station to Albert Campbell Square. With a focus on sustainability, the Canada Centre Building has been recognized for its engineering excellence and is considered for heritage status due to its significance in the development of the Scarborough Civic Centre area.
