Richard Sanger III House

The Richard Sanger III House, located in Sherborn, Massachusetts, is a notable historic house built around 1734. This unique 2+1⁄2-story timber-frame structure features a distinctive side gambrel roof and clapboard siding, making it one of the few 18th-century gambrel-roofed houses with a leanto in the area. The house's front facade is characterized by symmetrically placed windows and an off-center door flanked by sidelight windows, topped with a gabled pediment. Richard Sanger III, the original owner, was the son of a Boston merchant and is one of the few documented slave owners in the town's history. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986, making it an important site for both tourists and researchers interested in colonial architecture and local history.
