CBS Studio Building

The CBS Studio Building, located at 49 East 52nd Street in Midtown Manhattan, is a historic seven-story office building with a rich legacy. Originally built in 1908 as a guest house for the Vanderbilt family, it later became the first graduate school of the Juilliard School in 1924. In 1939, CBS transformed it into radio studios, where notable broadcasts took place, including those by Arthur Godfrey. With the rise of television, the building transitioned to become recording studios for Columbia Records, hosting legendary artists like Frank Sinatra and Bob Dylan. Currently owned by the Fisher Brothers, the building has been restored to reflect its original Vanderbilt design, making it a fascinating site for tourists and researchers interested in New York's cultural history.
