Samsung's first U.S. semiconductor fab opened in Austin

Samsung Austin Semiconductor opened its fabrications facility in the mid-1990s and represented Samsung's first major semiconductor manufacturing investment in the United States. The Austin plant became a significant site for Samsung's logic and memory chip production and has been expanded multiple times since opening. The facility has played a major role in semiconductor manufacturing and employment in the Austin region. Samsung Austin Semiconductor's campus is located in north Austin.
