Indiana War Memorial on Meridian Street axis

The Indiana War Memorial is located at 431 N Meridian St on Meridian Street, the principal north–south axis laid out in Alexander Ralston's 1821 plan for the Mile Square. The War Memorial and the surrounding Indiana War Memorial Plaza Historic District were developed along this original city axis in the early 20th century. Meridian Street's alignment through Monument Circle reflects its role as the central meridian in the original city survey.
