The Frankenstein Project (sculpture)

The Frankenstein Project is a striking contemporary sculpture by Tony Stallard, situated on the Blackpool Promenade in Lancashire, England. Installed in 2001, this unique artwork features a divers decompression chamber illuminated by blue neon light, showcasing skeletons and a killer whale skull. As part of a larger art initiative called the Great Promenade Show, the project took six years to complete and cost £500,000. Weighing seven tonnes and measuring twenty-four feet long, the sculpture invites visitors to peer through portholes into its captivating interior. Despite its artistic significance, the piece has faced controversy and vandalism, sparking debate and leading to its eventual relocation.
