Premonstratensian College, Leuven

Founded in 1571, the Premonstratensian College in Leuven served as a training ground for theologians of the Premonstratensian Order. Originally established in the former refugium of Grimbergen Abbey, the college was inaugurated in 1573. By the mid-18th century, it underwent significant renovations, leading to a new building completed between 1753 and 1755. After the university's suppression in 1797, the site had various uses, including barracks and a hospital, before becoming the Physics Institute of the Catholic University of Leuven. The college's façade is recognized as a public monument, highlighting its historical significance and architectural value, making it an interesting site for tourists and researchers alike.
