White House State Ballroom

The White House State Ballroom is an ambitious expansion project set to replace the demolished East Wing, with construction beginning in September 2025. This new venue aims to accommodate up to 999 guests for formal events, significantly surpassing the East Room's capacity of 200. The project has faced scrutiny regarding its funding and design, with an estimated cost rising from $200 million to $400 million. Funded by private donors and spearheaded by architect James McCrery II, the ballroom's construction reflects the ongoing evolution of the White House, which has seen numerous renovations over its 230-year history. The ballroom is expected to enhance the White House's ability to host state dinners and other significant events, moving away from the costly and often criticized outdoor tent setups used in recent administrations.
