Navigation School, Copenhagen

The Navigation School, located on Havnegade in Copenhagen, is a historic building that once served as an educational institution for maritime studies. Established in the 17th century, it evolved from the Royal Navigation School into a prominent academy for naval officers. The current structure, designed by Ferdinand Meldahl and inaugurated in 1865, showcases Historicist architecture influenced by Venetian Renaissance styles. Notably, it was one of the first buildings in Copenhagen to feature central heating. After the school relocated in the late 19th century, the building transitioned to government offices and was officially listed in 1981, making it a significant landmark for visitors interested in Denmark's maritime history and architectural heritage.
