Winslow Chemical Laboratory

The Winslow Chemical Laboratory, located on the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute campus in Troy, New York, is a historic building completed in 1866. Named after John F. Winslow, the 5th President of RPI, who contributed to its funding, the structure features a blend of brick and stone with interiors originally made from butternut, chestnut, and black walnut. Designed for comprehensive chemistry courses, it housed various laboratories and a library. Despite suffering multiple fires and periods of disrepair, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990. The building was revitalized as a children's science museum in the early 2000s and now serves as a hub for research in cognitive and computer sciences, hosting several innovative laboratories.
