Steephill (Staunton, Virginia)

Steephill, also known as Steep Hill, is a historic house located in Staunton, Virginia, built around 1878. This Gothic Revival style home was remodeled in the 1920s into a Georgian Revival style and features a distinctive central brick structure with two wings. Once the family estate of John Lewis Peyton, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. The estate was sold to Staunton Military Academy in 1964 and has faced challenges, including significant fire damage in 2019.
