Seikatei

Seikatei, also known as the Tsinghua Pavilion, is a historically significant residence located in Sapporo, Hokkaido, blending Japanese and Western architectural styles from the Meiji era. Built in 1880, it served as a resting place for the Meiji emperor in 1881 and is now recognized as a Tangible Cultural Property. The pavilion features a unique layout with both Western and Japanese-style rooms, and its garden was designed by German-American agronomist Louis Boehmer. Over the years, efforts have been made to preserve this cultural landmark, including restoration work completed in the late 1970s, making it a fascinating site for tourists and researchers interested in Japan's architectural heritage and history.
