Lower Swedish Cabin

The Lower Swedish Cabin, located in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, is a historic log cabin built by Swedish immigrants between 1640 and 1650, making it one of the oldest log cabins in the United States. This unique structure is a remnant of the New Sweden colony and has a rich history, including its use as a filming location by early cinema pioneer Siegmund Lubin in the early 1900s. The cabin served as a private residence until 1937 and has undergone various restorations, including a significant one in 1989. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982 and is now maintained by the Friends of the Swedish Cabin. Visitors can explore this historic site from April to October on Sundays, with free admission and donations welcomed.
