Chanticlare

Chanticlare, also known as the Ricks Estate, was a grand estate built in the 1920s in the Village of Flower Hill, New York. Designed in English Tudor style by architect Frederick A. Godley, the mansion featured 42 rooms, including a music room and ballroom. Despite efforts to preserve the estate after the deaths of its original owners, Jesse J. Ricks and his wife, it was ultimately demolished in the late 1960s. Today, remnants of the estate include a pipe organ donated to Hofstra University and a guest house that still stands. This site reflects the opulent Gold Coast era of Long Island and offers a glimpse into the region's architectural history.
