Lon Chaney Cabin

The Lon Chaney Cabin, located in Inyo County, California, is a historic retreat built in 1930 for the famed actor Lon Chaney by architect Paul R. Williams. Nestled near Big Pine Creek, known for its trout fishing, the rustic cabin features granite and lodgepole pine construction, with thick rock walls and a charming interior that includes a rock fireplace and kerosene lamp lighting. Although Chaney rarely used the cabin before his untimely death in the same year it was completed, it has a rich history, including a near-demolition in the 1960s that was averted due to environmental concerns. Currently, the cabin serves as a ranger station and is closed to the public, but it remains a point of interest for those exploring the area's historical and natural beauty.
