Covington House (Vancouver, Washington)

The Covington House is a historic cabin in Vancouver, Washington, built in 1848 by Richard and Charlotte 'Anna' Covington, who traveled from England to teach at Fort Vancouver. This cabin served as a boarding school and social hub, hosting musical events and community gatherings. It is notable for housing the first piano in the Oregon Country and is recognized as the oldest domestic dwelling and school building in Clark County. After falling into disrepair, it was restored and relocated in the late 1920s. Today, it is a National Landmark, maintained by the city and used for special events and meetings, offering a glimpse into the early pioneer life and education in the region.
