Highland Park Village (early planned shopping center)

Highland Park Village opened in 1931 as one of the earliest planned shopping centers in the United States. Its Spanish Colonial and Mediterranean Revival-style storefronts set a precedent for suburban retail architecture in the Dallas area. The complex was designated a National Historic Landmark in 2000 for its architectural and historical significance.
