DAR Constitution Hall as a major performance venue

DAR Constitution Hall, completed in 1929 and owned by the Daughters of the American Revolution, is one of Washington’s largest independent concert and event halls and has hosted concerts, speeches, and inaugural balls. The hall was the site of a widely publicized 1939 controversy when Marian Anderson was denied use of the hall due to the DAR's segregation policies; that denial led to her Lincoln Memorial concert. The building continues to operate as a cultural venue presenting touring performers and civic events.
