Oklahoma State Capitol (Solomon Layton design)

The Oklahoma State Capitol, designed by architect Solomon Andrew Layton and completed in phases beginning in 1917, is a neoclassical building with a symbolic dome and columned portico. The capitol grounds are notable for containing active oil wells and producing mineral royalties, a feature unique among U.S. state capitols. The building houses state government offices and a variety of public artworks and historic murals.
