Central Offices, Barnsley

Central Offices, formerly known as County Hall, is a notable municipal building located in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, England. Constructed in the 1960s in a striking brutalist style, it served as the headquarters for South Yorkshire County Council until its abolition in 1986. The building is characterized by its distinctive reinforced concrete frame and continuous bands of glazing. After its closure in 2007, it became a canvas for public art before being demolished in 2015 as part of a town center regeneration project. The site is now set to transform into a new public square, enhancing the cultural landscape of Barnsley.
