Esgair Moel

Esgair Moel is a historic woollen mill originally constructed in the early 18th century, now reconstructed at St Fagans National Museum of History in Cardiff, Wales. Built around 1760 near Llanwrtyd, the mill was expanded in the 19th century with unique machinery, including a rare spinning jack. After ceasing operations in 1947, it was relocated to St Fagans in 1952. Visitors can explore the complete wool production process, from dyeing to fabric finishing, and purchase traditional woollen shawls and blankets. The mill features mid-18th century handlooms and a water wheel, which is fed by a pool originally built for the Earl of Plymouth.
