Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center - founded by Lady Bird Johnson

The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center was co-founded by First Lady Lady Bird Johnson and actress Helen Hayes in 1982 as the National Wildflower Research Center and was later renamed for Johnson. The center focuses on native-plant research, conservation, public education, and demonstration gardens for Texas native flora. Since 2006 it has been affiliated with and operated by The University of Texas at Austin.
