Brewster Apartments

The Brewster Apartments, originally known as Lincoln Park Palace, is a historic condominium building located in the Lake View neighborhood of Chicago. Designed by architect Enock Hill Turnock and completed in 1896, this Romanesque Revival structure features a striking stone exterior of pink jasper and a full-height atrium with cast iron stairways and a massive skylight. It was designated a Chicago Landmark in 1982. The building has a rich cultural history, having served as a filming location for movies like Running Scared and Child’s Play, and notable residents have included Illinois Governor John Peter Altgeld and Charlie Chaplin during his brief stay in Chicago. The Brewster Apartments stands as a testament to the architectural innovation of the late 19th century and the vibrant history of the city.
