Mission San José acequia remnants

Mission San José preserves visible sections of its 18th-century acequia (irrigation) system that Spanish missionaries and Indigenous residents constructed to supply water to fields and orchards. Portions of the original stone-lined canals and associated reservoirs are still present on the mission grounds and interpreted for visitors as part of the site's agricultural history. The acequia network is part of the broader San Antonio Missions' historic irrigation infrastructure recognized by UNESCO.
