Shirley-Eustis House (Roxbury)

Built in the mid-18th century for Royal Governor William Shirley, the Shirley-Eustis House is one of only four surviving royal governor’s mansions in the United States. The house was restored in the 20th century and is operated as a historic site documenting colonial and early American architecture. Public tours and events are offered on a limited schedule and by appointment, making visits less immediately available to casual visitors. The house’s location in Roxbury and its intermittent public hours contribute to its status as a lesser-seen Boston historic site.
