Hatch Memorial Shell

The Hatch Memorial Shell is an outdoor bandshell on the Charles River Esplanade, completed in 1940 and rebuilt on the esplanade footprint from earlier band shells. It is the longstanding venue for the Boston Pops' Fourth of July concert and many free summer performances and festivals. The shell's distinctive semicircular form and visible riverside location make it a widely recognized performance landmark in Boston.
