Solomon Grove Smith–Hughes Building

The Solomon Grove Smith–Hughes Building is a historic community structure located on Solomon Grove Road in Twin Groves, Arkansas. Constructed in 1938 from locally sourced stone, this single-story building features a distinctive gable-on-hip roof and was initially established as a school. Built by the skilled African-American mason Silas Owens Sr., the building reflects the rich history of the area and was funded by the Works Progress Administration. Today, it serves as a library and was recognized for its historical significance by being listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994, making it an interesting site for both tourists and researchers interested in local history and architecture.
