The Custom House, Cork

The Custom House is a historic early 19th-century municipal building located at the convergence of the River Lee in Cork, Ireland. Opened in 1818 and originally serving as a custom house, it later became the headquarters for the Cork Harbour Commissioners until 2021. Designed by architect Abraham Addison Hargrave, the building features a striking facade of Cork grey limestone and includes a beautifully appointed boardroom recognized for its commercial interior design. The site also houses other protected structures, including bonded warehouses. As a significant landmark, the Custom House is listed by Cork City Council and is a focal point for proposed developments, attracting interest from heritage organizations.
