Mission San Diego de Alcalá

Mission San Diego de Alcalá, founded by Junípero Serra in 1769, was the first Franciscan mission established in Alta California. The present mission church, completed in 1813, stands at 10818 San Diego Mission Rd and is a functioning parish. The mission's historic complex and grounds are recognized as a California Historical Landmark and remain an identifying landmark of the San Diego Mission Valley area.
